Development of tourism enterprises in Penipe, Ecuador

Abstract

The global tourism sector suffered enormously due to the COVID-19 pandemic, facing significant challenges because of the in-person nature of its services. The canton of Penipe has several tourist attractions, which are advantageous for the development of businesses in the canton. However, is there development of the tourism sector businesses in Penipe, Ecuador? To answer this, an analysis is conducted with a quantitative approach and a non-experimental design using secondary sources. The results indicate that the search for information about tourism in Penipe reveals significant deficiencies. Business visibility is limited, mainly restricted to Google Maps, and control entities do not provide complete or consistent data. The lack of classification and detailed records reflects low business development, making it difficult for external tourists to become aware of the tourist services. Additionally, few studies address business development in Penipe, although some propose improvements. In summary, tourism businesses in Penipe are underdeveloped due to their limited visibility, lack of proper legal constitution, and minimal use of technology, which restricts their growth and ability to attract tourists.
